Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon

Adams Avenue was transformed into a stream of runners on the morning of June 1st. Thanks to the community for coming out to cheer on the runners and to the Normal Heights Community Association for organizing a block party after the event.

Art Around Adams

Art and music filled the streets this past weekend on Saturday, June 7th for the 14th annual Art Around Adams event. There were both new installations and old favorites.

No Parking Hours Reduced for Street Sweeping

Thanks to the the advocacy of local businesses and the great work of Council President Todd Gloria’s office, the City has agreed to reduce the no parking time limits posted for the weekly street sweeping of Adams Ave. Instead of the current 3 hours of no parking from 7-10AM, the new signs will require only one hour of no parking from 7-8AM. This means less parking tickets and more parking availability. It will take a month or more to implement this by changing out the required signs on Adams and throughout the surrounding residential areas (residential streets will have their no parking adjusted as a result).

Alex’s Lemonade Stand

This is the 9th year a local group has hosted a stand for pediatric cancer research! Come drink some lemonade, listen to music from local bands, learn about the Foundation, and what you can do to help. The event will be July 26th from 10AM-6PM at 3366 Adams Avenue (Masonic Lodge parking lot) in Normal Heights.

There will be a live broadcast all day with FM 94.9, and Legoland Park Hopper tickets will be available while supplies last. There will be a silent auction, opportunity drawing for large items, concert tickets, a lemon themed restaurant competition, and much more.
