Electric performances set the tone, and the tune, for 43rd Adams Avenue Street Fair

The Schizophonics rocked San Diego’s faces off on Saturday as headliners of the 43rd annual Adams Avenue Street Fair, presented by San Diego Foundation

The electric performance, complete with rhythmic contortions by frontman Pat Beers, capped a 90-show tour for the breakthrough San Diego band, and a day of celebrating music, community and the people and businesses that make Adams Avenue special year-round.

Tens of thousands of San Diegans descended upon the 10-city-block footprint to enjoy more than 75 musical acts across seven stages. More than 300 vendors lined the streets to sell their wares and connect with locals. And the region’s kids piled into rides like The Tornado, The Cliff Hanger and The Fun Slide, braving the unknown of a new experience for the chance to be delighted by the adventure.

This year’s Street Fair was made possible by generous community partners, including San Diego Community Power, which set up its Cool Zone at Smitty’s Service Station and the event’s title sponsor, San Diego Foundation

The organization’s support aligns with its Fifty & Forward campaign, “celebrating 50 years of strengthening the region through enduring philanthropy and community solutions.”

“San Diego Foundation believes that a thriving community is built on connection, creativity and shared experiences,” said Mark Stuart, President and CEO, San Diego Foundation. “The Adams Avenue Street Fair brings people together to enjoy music, art and culture in a way that is inclusive and welcoming.”

For two straight days, Adams Avenue buzzed with excitement, as the energy of various musical acts spilled onto the San Diegans who walked the entire 10 blocks of the event’s toasty pavement and then walked all the way back again to take in the next tune.

Who’s ready for next year?
